Location: Monterey Peninsula College Gallery, 980 Fremont St. Monterey
Join the Monterey Bay Metal Arts Guild and the Monterey Peninsula College Jewelry & Metal Arts Department as we celebrate the opening of Material Play, a contemporary metal arts exhibition exploring creativity through shared materials.
Meet the artists, experience a diverse collection of original work, and discover how a single exhibition kit inspired a wide range of creative interpretations. Featuring artwork by students from Monterey Peninsula College, Cabrillo College, Creator Haven, and members of the Monterey Bay Metal Arts Guild, Material Play highlights experimentation, craftsmanship, and the expressive potential of alternative materials.
Light refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public.
EXHIBIT OVERVIEW
Material Play invites students from Monterey Peninsula College, Cabrillo College, San José State University, Creator Haven, and MBMAG guild members to approach making with curiosity, experimentation, and openness. The exhibition celebrates the joy of working directly with materials, testing limits, combining the unexpected, and allowing process to guide outcome.

The exhibition is open by appointment throughout its run and during Monterey County Open Studios on September 12–13 and September 19–20 from 11:00 AM–5:00 PM.
