WORKSHOP DETAILS
DAY 1: Basket Setting + Using Bezel and Dapping Blocks to Create More Settings
Day 2: Creating Settings with the Aid of Investment
What is a basket setting?
A basket setting is a type of prong setting, utilizing prongs plus a structure which may resemble woven basket strands or may be a simple jump ring. In both the basic prong setting and the basket setting, the stone is held in place by strands of the basket, aka prongs, aka claws. The prongs of a basket setting can be low profile compared to the prongs of a simple prong setting. Baskets often cradle the stone using metalwork beneath the base of the stone. The additional metal in a basket setting provides extra strength versus the same design in a simple prong setting.
