Examining the preconceptions, myths and realities surrounding the lives of women, Rose Sellery uses language as a catalyst for her most recent work. Collecting slang and derogatory words, as well as familiar expressions for describing women on different occasions or times of their lives, she creates visual representations from the verbal images. Rose has chosen the "dress" as a specifically feminine symbol in which to reconsider these words and descriptions so often taken for granted. These life-size dresses expose and cherish what composes our lives, sharing the strengths and weaknesses, occasionally resulting in shadowy or comic interpretations.
